Some Key Factors That Could Help You Get the Lowest Airline Tickets

You need to understand that there is no such thing as discounted airfare and/or getting the cheapest airfare available. This is simply because there is no base price to work off. For example, a flight from New York to London should cost $600, but airline companies are offering it at $400. People really need to understand the reason for this is that there is no such thing as a fixed ticket price.

There are however factors that influence the price of airline tickets that are hidden and not many people make you aware of those charges. The different fees are airline surcharges, ticketing fees, airport taxes and booking fees. These fees are added onto the ticket price. You could add between 10 and 25 percent to your ticket price to give you the total airfare price.

Is it starting to sound very scary to you? The worst part is when you do an online booking for airline tickets and they say it is the lowest price available. They do not add any other surcharges until you are ready to add your credit card details and then you find out about the extra charges.

All I am going to do is try and help you get the best and/or lowest airline ticket price available to you by making you aware of the following criteria. You need to look out for:

• Advanced booking
• Departure date and time
• Arrival date and time
• Direct or connecting flights
• Arrival and departure airport

These factors above play an important role in determining your airline ticket price. However, out of all of these the most important factor would be the advanced booking factor. This aspect alone can save you a lot of money if you are prepared to book for your airline tickets in advance for a certain destination. If you are traveling to an international destination a minimum of 30 days prior to departure date, is when you should book and pay for your ticket. If you're flying domestic/locally, you need to book and pay 21 days prior to departure date.

What stands out the most about advanced booking is the fact that the further in advance you book and pay for your flight, the cheaper it will be. The downside of having to pay for a flight eight or nine months in advance is exactly that you have to pay for it then.

Another way of getting cheaper tickets would be to use your credit card with a rewards program that offers you air miles. These air miles are then used when you purchase your tickets and if you do not have enough air miles the balance is paid for in cash or with the credit card.

Before you purchase any airline ticket make sure you read the terms and conditions. These are made available to you on the website that you are going to book through. Also make sure of all the extra charges that will be charged. These are clearly described to you. Do not forget to spend some time searching the Internet for cheaper tickets because if you persevere and exercise patience, you will achieve the end goal, which is having the lowest airline ticket price out there.
