Need a Cheap Flight to Johannesburg? How to Find Cheap Airfare to Johannesburg, South Africa

Here's what you do to get those cheap flights to Johannesburg, South Africa:

1. Expand Your World View: You can save by not flying direct or nonstop to Johannesburg.

Consider flying through another country to get to Johannesburg, South Africa . Most people want to fly nonstop or direct. They pay for that convenience. If you want a discount flight to Johannesburg from London, Perth, the USA or other places that have nonstop airline service to Johannesburg, you need to look beyond your backyard. If you are willing to travel and connect through a second city or country you may save a lot. For example, don't count on a cheap flight from London directly to Johannesburg in December especially on Virgin, British Airways or South African Airways.. Try other airlines that might not be so obvious. You may have a better chance of finding a cheap airfare to Johannesburg if you consider flying from London to Johannesburg through Dubai on Emirates, through Amsterdam on KLM, through Paris on Air France or via Frankfurt on Lufthansa.

And here is a case where it can really pay to look beyond your own country. If you want to find a cheap flight to Johannesburg from Birmingham or Manchester in the UK, for example, you follow the same strategy. Don't just automatically go through London! Always check out flights that go through a second country . These flights are almost always cheaper than trying to find a cheap flight to Johannesburg on an airline that flies nonstop or is a dominant carrier on a particular route. Another example? If you live in Sydney, take a look at Air Malaysia or Singapore Airlines. Qantas and SAA have a near monopoly on the Johannesburg - Sydney route so you won't find much competition on it. And where there is no competition you usually don't find discount flights.

Use an airfare search engine to help you. It will show you what indirect routes you can take through cities you may have never considered. And it will show you how much you can save, by doing so. Expect savings from 30% to 70% on published airfares from the airlines.

2. What do you do to find cheap flights to Johannesburg from within South Africa?

Go online, go online! Search the websites of no frills, domestic airlines in South Africa. Airways like 1 time, kulula, Comair, and Mango, they are aggressive on price. But don't forget to check the South African Airways website as well. They are fighting back with specials. And they still give the comforts & meals of a full service airline.

Make it easy on yourself. There are airline search engines that can help you compare fares to Johannesburg from a number of airlines & airline ticket consolidators at once. Use them!

Cheap Flights to Nairobi - Six Tips To Find Them

Do you think travelling to Nairobi, Kenya is expensive? That doesn't have to be the case. Here are six tips to get cheap flights to Nairobi.

1. Book Chartered Flights

Packages with a flight included are sometimes cheaper than a separate flight. So have a look at package deals from charter companies. You aren't obliged to stay in their accommodation, of course.

Some charters fly to Mombasa (at the coast) instead of Nairobi. Mombasa is much closer to the beach resorts, and also close to major wildlife parks like Tsavo East and West. A number of Kenyan air companies fly between Mombasa and Nairobi, and there's also a bus and a night train, taking around 9 hours.

2. Book Separate Flights

There are no direct flights from the USA or Canada to Nairobi. So from North America you'll always have to fly over Europe (typically Amsterdam, Brussels or London), or alternatively the Middle East. Often you can save money by first buying a cheap ticket to Europe and then a separate ticket to Kenya

3. Go With Flying Blue

Kenya Airways, the main Kenyan air company, is member of the Flying Blue program together with Northwest Airlines, Continental Airlines, Air France, KLM, Delta Airlines, Aeromexico, and Korean Air. If you travel with them, you earn Flying Blue points, and with enough points you qualify for better ticket and hotel deals, free upgrades, etc. KLM (the major Dutch air company) has a joint venture with Kenya Airways and Amsterdam is a major hub for flights to Nairobi.

4. Time Your Trip

The tourist seasons in Kenya are December-January and July-August. Prices go up then, not only of air tickets but also of accommodations. So travelling outside these periods will give better deals.

Flying on inconvenient times (very early in the morning, or late at night) will usually give you better prices. If you include a weekend day, air companies assume you are a tourist instead of a business traveller. However, if you do include a weekend, don't fly on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday as these are typically the days when most tourists travel.

5. Book A Round-The-World Ticket

If you'd like to go to Nairobi as part of a much longer journey, then a round-the-world (RTW) ticket may be good for you. Several alliances of air companies offer RTW tickets, all with different conditions. The Star Alliance, in which nineteen air companies take part, is one of the best known. Some are based on mileage, others on time period.

6. Shop Around

And as always... don't book too soon. The Kenyan tourism sector is pretty competitive, and it pays to ask around, compare prizes and don't part with your hard earned cash too soon.

Super Cheap Airplane Tickets - How to Find Cheap Airplane Tickets

Super cheap airplane tickets are easy to get when you know the right information. The sad thing is, 99% of people will never know this information. If you ever plan on traveling by air, this article may be the most important thing you read all year! The truth is, airlines are robbing people like you and I of our hard earned money EVERY DAY. Ticket prices are outrageous as is, then we are slapped in the face with baggage fees, taxes, oxygen fees, on and on and on... It all seems so helpless, how can we defeat these greedy airline giants?

It starts with finishing this article! In it, you will learn the secrets only a select few travelers know about saving money when flying.

The first step is to book early. Everyone knows this. What you may not know is what day to buy the ticket- YES it matters what day and even time you buy your ticket. Airlines release the "new" (and cheapest) tickets on a certain day and time. Since most businesses are purchasing tickets between 9am and 5am, avoid purchasing tickets between these times as airlines like to jack up the price (because businesses will pay anything).

Next, book your stay over a weekend. Again, most people will try to fly back on a Sunday. Airlines know this and jack up price accordingly. This trick alone saved me 92$ on a round trip ticket to New Orleans.

Always try to buy tickets after holiday seasons. Airlines typically have huge promotions after holidays to keep their sales up. If you take advantage of this, you will save significant cash. If you are in the military or are a clergyman, present your card when buying tickets and you will typically receive a 5%-10% discount.

Typically, travelers will buy tickets straight from the airlines, or even from a "super cheap airplane ticket" website thinking they are getting the best deals. Yeah, you will be getting the 'best' deal online, but it's not the cheapest ticket available! Always consider talking to a travel agent when buying a ticket. Travel agents have access to significant discounts that they are willing to pass down to you if you know what to say.
